Intro¶
My other T68d teletype is a nicely enclosed and compact machine. But honestly speaking I am a bit annoyed to handle thin paper tapes. Especially for longer messages, they are hard to read. So I could not resist when a Lorenz Lo15a paper printer teletype popped up on eBay Kleinanzeigen for just 50€ in my neighborhood.
The Lo15a is a 50-baud paper-type teletype device from the former german company C. Lorenz AG. Unfortunately the type plate is missing, so I don't have a serial number for it. I barely found reliable information on the internet about when my device was built. The timeframe ranges from 1932 to 1955. Some people mentioned, that aluminum was hard to get after war, so the later device chassis were made of cast iron. My chassis is made of aluminum, so it was probably built before 1945. A 1932 Lo15 in the Fernmeldemuseum Dresden looks pretty similar to my device. But I'm not sure. My device has a paper tape reader but no hole punch. The paper tape reader seems to be newer than the rest of the machine, so I guess it was added/replaced later on. The Lo15 came with two types of motors: A synchronous motor or a universal motor with a cetrifugal governor switch. I have the latter one.
